One of the more peculiar aspects of my relationship with Dr. Joseph Lisiewski was recounted in Chapter Five of The Magical World of Dr. Joseph Lisiewski (IHS 2017). What makes this discussion of interest is that in itself it is an anomaly, a series of statements. It did not really fit in anywhere, and of itself appears to make little if any sense. However, as we examine it in the broader context of paranormal experiences, we see that it follows a well-established pattern contact, communication, and even at times, deception.
The following is an excerpt from Chapter Six, “Time Travel and the Great White Brotherhood”.
Floating Heads and the Cube
Part of what he [Lisiewski] may have been referring to by the Great White Brotherhood can be explained by a psychic phenomenon I am familiar with and at times is connected to meditation practices using a cube as the symbolic structure of the universe. There is an experience of spaciousness, often in the form of what we think of as ‘outer space’ and with it the occasional vision of a human face looking back. The eyes are unblinking and there is an intensity to the experience that may be enough to break contact very quickly. At other times there is the sense of something forbidden that should be avoided, but I have found this to be rare. What these ‘heads in space’ are is difficult to say. When Lisiewski saw them they had a slight Greco-Roman appearance to them. He thought they might be the Greek gods or something of that nature. Possibly angels such as those we call “Watchers” or egregores. Maybe in the end he believed they were the adepts of the Great White Brotherhood. I do not know, but, the experience is a real one and can be unnerving.
Let’s compare the above paragraph to what is written by John A. Keel, journalist and pioneering UFOologist in his groundbreaking work, UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse. Despite being published in 1970, Trojan Horse remains a classic in the field of UFO studies, as well as unrefuted. Keel’s research, observations, and insights make him required reading in the areas of parapsychology, UFOs, and with them, occultism.
“Numerous cases already cited in this book have mentioned how the UFO occupants spoke in a language which the witnesses couldn’t understand. But some contactees claim that they were able to understand this language instantly, as if it were a second tongue lying dormant in some recess of their brains. Brazil’s Aladino Felix often spoke in what he called “the universal language,” described by reporters as “a hodgepodge of Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.” This could also describe the language I have heard the others contactees speak. Greek is frequently employed by entities in UFO contacts. A large section of the “inspired” book Oahspe is devoted to a complete explanation of a supposedly ancient language known as Panic (language of Pan, a lost continent), complete with vocabulary and written symbols. It appears to be a combination of Hebrew, Greek, Latin, American Indian, and Chinese. To compose such a language as a hoax, Dr. Newbrough, the medium who wrote Oahspe, would have had to been a brilliant linguist, and would have taken many years for one man to assemble such a complex vocabulary. Buried in the fine print of Oahspe there are many words which I have heard UFO contactees use!”
And:
“By the same token, the UFO entities seem to adopt names such as Xeno (Greek for “stranger”) or use variations on ancient Greek and Indian names from mythology. The long haired Venusians and the long haired angels are unquestionably part of the same package, coming from the same source but utilizing different frames of reference to human beings. It is also highly probable that they do not have individual identities but are manifestations of a greater force which is able to manipulate the human mind. This mental (and also emotional) manipulation is the key to our mystery.” (270)
The last paragraph in itself is enough to get us wondering about the entire source and purpose of “Enochian” the channeled language and magical system given to John Dee through the near sadistic use of marathon mediumistic and visionary trances of his hired seer Edward Kelly. The “angels” appeared to Kelly in the form of children, a form also mentioned in in many UFO contact experiences. Hence the evil “black eyed children” of contemporary pop culture has some roots in the historical and modern histories of psychic contact. In addition, the message given to Kelly for Dee was in an apocalyptic tone and spoke of destruction and divine judgement. Occult author Donald Tyson wrote about the possibility of Enochian magic being a means of triggering an apocalyptic tear in the ‘veil’ between the visible and invisible worlds in his book, The Power of the Word: The Secret Code of Creation (also published as Tetragrammaton: The Secret to Invoking Angelic Powers and the Key to the Apocalypse, Llewellyn 2002). He was soundly mocked by many in the magical community at the time. More recently author Jason Louv has taken an historical slant on the same theme in his book John Dee and the Empire of Angels (Inner Traditions 2018) only to be met with praise. Louv makes no mention of Tyson in his work, but states the same theme: magic is being used to usher in the ‘End Times’ so that we can return to our Edenic State.
The predominant messages given to UFO contactees also share this same theme. However, it also falls under the subject heading so aptly called in a previous essay, “Why Angels Can Be Douche Bags” or the agenda of the invisible being we are dealing with may not necessarily be the same as our own. By that we also mean, why is it that these ‘angels’ often appear to have no concern for humans in general, but also for their host or contact person in particular, and why many of the predictions and prophecies given do no bear out. Yes, some predictions in the beginning work, the small or even big ones, but then they begin to fail only to leave the recipient looking like a fool or worse. We see that Dee and Kelly came to a poor end, particularly after the infamous ‘wife swapping’ episode said to have been under the direction of the angels. Financial ruin, divorce, and public mockery were Dee and Kelly’s reward for their years of communing with the angels. The same fate has happened to many in the UFO and parapsychology fields as well.
“Reverend [Arthur] Ford traveled in high circles but has never made any material gain from his peculiar gifts. He gives freely of his time – and Fletcher’s [spirit guide] advice from the other side – at séances all over the country. Mrs. Ruth Montgomery, the well-known author and Washington reporter, tells of the time that Reverend Ford visited her in Washington and lapsed into a trance so she ask Fletcher for some advice on his behalf. Reverend Ford was then in the process of moving and wanted to know what he should do with some of his things. Fletcher seemed totally disinterested in Ford’s problems, Mrs. Montgomery reported, and when asked if Ford should visit a clinic for a checkup, Fletcher snapped, ‘He’d better do something. If he doesn’t, I can’t work though him much longer.’
Although Reverend Ford had voluntarily submitted his person to Fletcher’s use for nearly half a century, the entity was apparently completely disinterested in his problems and welfare.
This, alas, is typical. Even the most helpful entities seem more dedicated to the job communicating than to any kind of involvement with those to whom (or through whom) they are communicating. The bizarre history of psychic phenomena is filled with Fletchers.” (248)
But back to Lisiewski and his floating heads: I myself have seen them at various times in meditation, and they were as Keel noted in the commonality of UFO contactees: Greco-Roman, or Oriental in appearance. For over twenty-five years I have kept a journal of important experiences and in these pages are the dates, times, descriptions, and drawings of the experiences. In addition, other practitioners have also reported identical or similar experiences to me as well. Unfortunately, they had no context within which to place these experiences, and while making a mental note, did not write down any additional details that may have been useful in understanding what was happening.
Something Jean Dubuis has stated in (“Let’s Talk Mythology”) and which we brought to the attention of our readers in an essay from March 18, 2018 entitled, “Mythology and the Tree of Life: Odysseus and Circe” was the importance of Greco-Roman mythology in relation to alchemy and Qabala. He also states elsewhere that as these gods and goddesses appear to us in our inner experiences, the powers they represent are slowly awakened within us.
“As heirs of the Greco-Latin culture, it is sometimes good to get back to our roots to vivify our Tree of Life.
Myths are supposed to represent the childhood memories of Humanity. Under the guise of exoteric accounts, they conceal a sacred teaching. For this they rely on symbols, messengers between the collective unconscious – because they are archetypes – and the conscious.
Why not transmit clearly the hidden meaning of these stories? Because the symbol, which is a reflection of the archetype, gathers into a concentrated form the thought-force to be transmitted, either in graphical form or in that of an image. The latter is expressed in the individual unconscious, usually through the culture to which each of us belongs.
Consequently, if one internalizes mythological stories, by inner resonance there will be an activation of layers of the unconscious that are carriers of such archetypes. As in any symbolic text (legend, fairy tale …), there is a meditation work to do if we want to take advantage of authentic content.
In the eighteenth century, a Benedictine monk, Dom Pernety, worked on decoding Egyptian and Greek fables. He reveals the fact that the first is devoted to alchemy, while the latter involves the greater Qabalistic aspect of Initiation. However, the two are linked and complement each other.”
This leaves us with the question about what it is Lisiewski, myself, others, or even UFO contactees are encountering? Are these psychic projections from our own unconscious? Are they from the mind of another, possibly more powerful being or focal point? Or, are they individual and sentient beings? Is it possible that all of the above are taking place and each experience must be understood uniquely?
What is certain is that we must develop a high level of discrimination, the first virtue on the Path of Return, so as not to fall into error with our interior experiences. The value systems of the earth and of us as practitioners are not the value systems of the invisible beings, of which there are many. Common sense must always be a part of our evaluation of our encounters. For as Ronald Reagan said regarding negotiations with the Soviet Union, “Trust, but verify.” This goes hand in hand with the advice of St. Paul regarding the “testing of spirits” or more pointedly, as the Indian Mahasiddha Nagarjuna said, “The gods lie.” As we pointed out in the essay, “Why Angels Can Be Douchebags” the invisible entities we encounter often have their own agenda or are part of an agenda we know nothing about. To pretend that we can order them around like unpaid servants to do our bidding is the height of satanic pride, and no doubt the reason for piles of roadside litter of human lives that clog the gateways of the Path of Return. As Keel states, “For a time I questioned my own sanity. I kept profusive notes – a daily journal which now reads like something from the pen of Edgar Allen Poe or H.P. Lovecraft.” (274). It should come of no surprise that the blending of Enochian magic with horror and science fiction – Lovecraft in particular – is part of the modern ‘magical milieu’ aptly called “Chaos Magic.” Is it possible that the entire mystery that we are encountering is designed to keep us confused, like some form of psychic labyrinth? Is it possible that the promises of utopian futures are nothing but a deception and subterfuge?
In itself this is fascinating, for the volumes of false predictions, nearly all around the idea of a ‘golden age’ are ripe throughout modern spirituality. What is missing, again, is context, and that context is both knowledge of terrestrial history and esoteric traditions.
I have had several experiences over the last two years that in themselves would have been terrifying if it were not for decades of practice in meditation and its attendant psychic experiences. Several of these I have written about publically and stated clearly that if it were not for my previous experiences, I would have been convinced what was happening was a physical phenomenon and not a psychic or mental one. This is critical, as I would find out much later that one experience in particular was nearly identical to the opening experience described by Whitely Streiber in his bestselling book Communion. Again, my journals from over the years describe that are clearly a predicable set of encounters nearly identical to what Keel described as his earliest “ET” experiences. The difference is that I do not attribute these to physical extraterrestrial phenomena, but to psychic phenomena of some kind.
With training, patience, and a solid connection to terra firma we can proceed on the Path of Return. However, we must make it through the dreamland domain of the psyche that can too easily cloud our emotions and reason. This is critical because the experiences we have are not limited to us alone, and begin to impact the world around us as well as those closest to us. The well documents night terrors, visitations, poltergeist phenomena, seeing visions and hearing voices are all known to be contagious. The reason for this is simple: failure to know how and why we disengage from the liminal, from the psychic. By its nature the psychic is all pervasive, and for that reason, we need to put boundaries and direction on its influence in our lives. If we do not do this, then it will overflow and create disruption and chaos. It is no different than turning on a water faucet –either a slow drip or fast current – and walking away. Sooner or later you will have problems, and your neighbors as well.
As such, the best advice we can offer is that the spiritual path is a tricky one and requires patience and dedication. Patience, in that there is much to learn and do on the Way, and dedication to our own Path of Awakening so as not to get sidetracked into someone, or something else’s agenda. For this reason it is important to pick your spiritual friends slowly and wisely. Study the classics, and stay focused on the most basic goal there is – your own self-awakening, self-knowledge. With that your self-actualization will be possible, and your happiness assured.

Thank you,
Would love to read your experiences Mark.
Ever since I embarked on this path, I too had similar experience as Robert Masters while working on my own book for nearly a year. Dying plants, infestation of flies, centipedes, crows, awkward weather patterns, lights and mysterious sounds…It takes much patience and strength to stay on track and not lose ones marbles.
I think there is a good reason as to why the mystery has been encrypted and veiled. Mostly for our own safety. Symbols and words like encrypted keys to doors, doors that lead to the infinite labyrinths and abysses of our subconsciousness… the entire history of the world is contained in our subconsciousness. If we would have direct access, I think, we would not survive it.
I don’t think we can’t access it at all. At best, all we can ever seem to achieve is to open certain doors and portals, by resonating with symbols and images and let some of what wants to be known surface to our consciousness. The subconscious seems to control us completely. Our thoughts do shape our reality. I am certain that what we see outside of ourselves is merely a projection of our own (and shared) subconsciousness.
The duration seems to be important in how long the experiences last. Maybe the creation of neural pathways in the brain has something to do with that? Around 60 days for a new semi-permanent neural pathway, connecting with other subconscious, albeit, dormant neural structures. I think we tap into subconscious neural networks that have shutdown through evolution and hidden network yet to be uncovered…
